Background Story
Last year I was lucky that our local library sold off some really interesting art books. I managed to salvage a beautiful book about Kenneth Noland. I started studying the book and than this painting happened. I called the work "My North Star" because at the time I felt really clearly where I should be heading as an artist. In real life, the north star holds nearly still while the entire Northern Sky moves around it. When you find your metaphorical North Star, you know where you are headed. Aiming towards it will bring more energy, happiness and benefits for others, as it has the power to lift us out of the routines and obligations of everyday. For me, this work symbolizes the power of art in general, the energy which transforms the ordinary into something extra ordinary
